In the old district Villatico (Colico), 12 mills were in operation in the past centuries.
Their large wheels were moved by the water channelled into the “canal of the mills” and operated other simple machines that made it possible to beat fabrics and above all to grind grain. In a few decades, the presence of these brilliant and ecological machines has almost disappeared. This clean and renewable energy, has supported local communities for almost a millennium. Almost 60 years after the closure of the last mill, Molino Maufet, Molino Murgana, Molino Seregni, Molino Secrista and Latteria di Villatico together have reopened a chapter of important local historical evidence.
It is possible to visit the ancient and striking village of mills (which are wellsignposted), by choosing between two itineraries, both suitable for adults and children.
